President Hinckley and President Monson have some advice for you.

President Hinckley has said:
The best food storage is not in welfare grain elevators but in

sealed cans and bottles in the homes of our people. What a gratifying thing it is to see cans of wheat and rice and beans under the beds or in the pantries of women who have taken welfare responsibility into their own hands.

The time to get our houses in order was yesterday. Instead of a new sofa, buy a wheat grinder. Instead of a DVD, buy a home storage starer kit. But whatever you do, please get prepared!

Many more people could ride out the storm-tossed waves in their economic lives if they had their year's supply of food and clothing and were debt free.

Many today have followed this counsel in reverse. They have at least a year's supply of debt and are food free.
-- Thomas S. Monson
